Paul R. Chavez joined Donahue Gallagher Woods LLP as an associate in 2005. Mr. Chavez is a member of the firm's civil litigation, employment, and intellectual property groups. His practice focuses on disputes related to employment, copyright infringement, and contracts.

Mr. Chavez received his law degree in 2005 from Boalt Hall, University of California at Berkeley. During law school, he served as Executive Editor of La Raza Law Journal, and was selected to be a member of Boalt Hall’s Moot Court Competition Team. In 2005, Mr. Chavez competed in the Vanderbilt First Amendment Moot Court Competition. In law school, Mr. Chavez worked for Westlaw as a student representative advising and training law students on the use of legal research software. He also worked as a research assistant to Professor Edward C. Halbach, Jr. and assisted Professor Halbach in revising the American Law Institute’s Restatement of the Law Third, Trusts. Additionally, Mr. Chavez received the Chief Justice Rose Bird Scholarship Award.

Mr. Chavez earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with High Honors from the University of Colorado at Denver, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. Prior to college, Mr. Chavez served in the United States Navy as a Firefighter.

Mr. Chavez has been actively engaged in community-based volunteer activities, including serving as a mentor to high school students enrolled in the Street Law Program; attending and supervising workers rights clinics at Centro Legal De La Raza in the Fruitvale District of Oakland; and attending Immigration Clinics in Oakland through the Alameda County Bar Association’s Volunteer Legal Services Corporation. Mr. Chavez is a member of the State Bar of California and the Alameda County Bar Association.
